Ireland three years behind on broadband

A study by Forfas has shown Ireland is three years behind the OECD average in terms of take-up of high-speed internet connections.

The study measures Ireland's broadband performance against 20 other countries.

Forfas says the relatively high cost of broadband services for business is the key issue, with Ireland ranking 18 of 21 countries for small business and residential users.

Coverage is increasing but remains relatively low at around 60%. This place Ireland 17th.
