Dr Brian Hillery has been appointed to the board of Independent News & Media as non-executive director.
Hillery is currently chairman of UniCredito Italiano Bank and chairman of Providence Resources. Hillery has served as a member of the Irish Parliament as both TD and Senator, from 1977 to 1994.
Afterwards he was an executive director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London and a director of ICC Bank.
Hillery has also served as a Professor at the Graduate School of Business in UCD and is currently a Member of the Review Body on Higher Remuneration in the Public Sector and a Board Member of The Fulbright Commission.
