Independent News and Media is to extend the sales of its tabloid version of The Independent to the Granada TV region, following its launch in the London area four weeks ago.
The Independent tabloid, has been received with great enthusiasm by readers, advertisers and retailers, Independent News and Media said in a statement.
It said, 'The concept of providing consumer choice, a world first for national newspaper publishing, has seen net sales of The Independent increase by approximately 20,000 a day.'
The success, it says, has led to the expansion of the original area to include mainline commuter routes in the South East.
INM says the Granada region has a high level of commuter traffic, a large student population and a young, affluent audience. It is also an area where the Independent already has a strong brand franchise.
