France Telecom, which last year needed help from the French government to begin digging out of a debt mountain, reported a profit bonanza from operations this morning.
The company said that operating profit in the first six months had surged by 46% to €4.6 billion. Underlying profits rose by 23.5% to €8.5 billion.
In the first six months sales rose by 1.7% to €2.85 billion, with sales in the Internet arm Wanadoo rising by 32%.
