Barrow Automation wins Shell LiveWire Award

Barrow Automation, based in Bagenalstown, Co Carlow, has won the Shell LiveWire Young Business Start-Up of the Year for 2003. The company makes and installs automation equipment and fought off stiff competition from 12 other young businesses to win the award.

Tanaiste Mary Harney presented the company's Jim Sommers with the award and a cheque for €5,000 at today's presentation ceremony in Croke Park.

All Hampers, based in Tallaght, took second place and a cheque for €1,500.

Shell LiveWire is supported by the City and County Enterprise Boards and PriceWaterhouseCoopers and its aim is to support youth enterprise and to encourage young people to become interested in working for themselves.
