Irish Broadband launches always-on service

Irish Broadband, a subsidiary of NTR, today launched its fixed price 'always on' broadband internet services in Dublin.

The company, which is planning to roll out its services on a nationwide basis over the coming months, was officially launched by the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, Dermot Ahern.

Irish Broadband is the first company to introduce guaranteed broadband connection speeds. Users can download as much as they want without being penalised for it, the company says.

The Irish Broadband network is already up and running in South Dublin and Dublin city centre with services available in the Donnybrook, Three Rock, Sandyford, Tallaght and Blackrock areas. It is also available at the Guinness Storehouse Brewery and Fitzwilliam Square.

The company says it will announce further roll out in North Dublin and surrounding counties over the coming months. Staff numbers have been increased to deal with the expected extra demand.

'The launch of this product is further proof of the major strides being made by telcos in delivering on the broadband revolution,' Minister Ahern said today.
