Sun sales go down again in Q1

Software company Sun Microsystems, which employs 250 people in Ireland, has reported a first quarter profit of $4m, reversing a $37m loss in the same period last year.

But sales fell by more than 10% on the same period a year earlier to $2.8 billion - the eighth consecutive quarterly decline.

Steve McGowan, Sun's chief financial officer, said the company had 'responded well' to the continued economic challenges.
