The independent directors of telecoms group Alphyra have confirmed that they are in talks with US company First Data Corporation (FDC) over a potential offer for the company.
A bid has already been tabled by a management team backed by Benchmark Capital at a price of €2.45 a share. The offer document is expected to be sent to shareholders this week.
In a stock exchange statement, Alphyra's independent directors said information on the company had been passed on to FDC, but there was no guarantee that the approach will result in an acceptable offer.
Alphyra shares jumped over 6% in Dublin on the news - they closed 15 cent higher at €2.51 this evening.
