Telecoms company Alphyra has sold its payphone division for €2.4m to Smart Telecom. Alyphra shares closed higher after news of the deal, up almost 17% to €1.52 in Dublin this evening - a gain of 22 cent.
The company says the sale will allow it to focus irs energies on the development of its pan-European electronic transaction strategy.
The payphone business is increasingly viewed as a low growth area following the widespread growth in use of mobile phones.
