O2 offers GPRS to prepaid customers

Mobile operator O2 Ireland is to offer General Packet Radio Service, or GPRS, to its prepaid customers.

GPRS, sometimes known as 2.5G, offers 'always on' Internet connections. This means that although customers are always connected to the Internet, they incur costs only for information they receive to their phone.

CEO Danuta Gray said O2 was pleased to be the first in the Irish market to offer GPRS to prepaid customers. A flat rate charge of three cent per kilobyte applies at all times.
