Sports internet site Sports.com has been put into administration just 14 months after it established its Irish operation.
The sports site, which was once valued at 270 million sterling, has websites across Europe and in March 2001 recruited Liam Hayes and Cathal Dervan to run the Irish operation.
Dervan and Hayes were founders of the Title newspaper, which later became Ireland on Sunday and was sold to Scottish Radio Holdings.
According to UK reports the site will operate until the end of the World Cup after which it will close unless a buyer is found.
No one from the company could be contacted to find out the future plans for the Irish site.
