Electronics manufacturer Sanmina-SCI is to close its Blanchardstown plant with the loss of up to 133 jobs.
Operations will be transferred to the company's plant in Fermoy, Co Cork by March of this year.
A 'small number' of staff may be offered the chance to move to Fermoy, but a spokeswoman said this would be decided on a case by case basis and would not be offered to the majority of staff.
Sanmina, which ran the Dublin plant, merged with SCI last month. The spokeswoman said it was 'not feasible' to keep both plants going given the current business climate.
Both companies were US multinationals supplying electronics equipment to the telecoms industry.
The Fermoy plant currently employs 600 people, and Sanmina-SCI hopes to increase employment there when business picks up again.
As part a redundancy package, the company will provide a range of support and consultancy services to help those leaving the company secure alternative employment locally.
Seamus Grady, general manager of the Blanchardstown plant, said it was a sad day for everyone involved in the Dublin operation, which has been open since September 1997.
