Industrial production continues to slide

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production was down 4.9% in the three months from June to August when compared with the previous three-month period, according to the Central Statistics Office.

The March-May figure had shown a drop of 2.8%. The annual increase for the month of August was 5.6%, compared with a 3.7% rise in July.

Compared with June-August last year, the CSO says production of consumer goods was up 11.4%, while production of radio, television and communication equipment fell 36%.
