Sharp June rise in industrial production

The seasonally adjusted volume of industrial production fell 1.7% in the three months from April to June compared with the previous three months, according to the Central Statistics Office.

The provisional year-on-year increase in June was 12.9%, compared with a 2.6% rise in May.

The sharpest increase in this year's second quarter, compared with the same period last year, was in medical, precision and optical instruments, where production rose 43.1%.

The steepest fall was in production of radio, television and communication equipment, where there was a 26% drop.
