Eircom hits back at DSL delay suggestion

Eircom has rejected claims by the telecoms regulator Etain Doyle that it has not provided enough pricing information on its DSL high-speed internet service.

The regulator suggested yesterday that the launch of the service - originally scheduled for September - could be delayed by two months. Ms Doyle gave Eircom a list of questions, asking for a reply by September 5.

In a statement today, Eircom said it had notified the ODTR of its DSL prices on July 20 and provided more details on July 31. It said it had already answered the questions submitted by the regulator yesterday, but had responded again.

The company said there was no reason for the ODTR to delay the introduction of the DSL service any longer. Eircom said it was still committed to introducing DSL on September 28.
