US-based online auctioneer eBay is planning to open a trading web site in Ireland. It is also expanding into Switzerland and New Zealand.
eBay said online would be able to find locally listed items and other users from the same country, making browsing and buying easier.
It said trading would be done in currencies currently available on eBay, but shoppers would be able to finalise payments among themselves in other currencies.
The company has local sites in 60 markets in the US and country-specific sites in nine other countries.
