Irish papers to push SRH revenues higher

Scottish Radio Holdings, which owns Ireland on Sunday and has a 22% stake in Today FM, has recorded a rise in first half group revenues, although a sharp drop in advertising dragged down radio income.

SRH said in a trading statement that first half group revenues excluding acquisitions would have moved up by 2% by the time it reports interim results on May 18.

But first half revenues including Ireland on Sunday and the Kilkenny People, which were bought last year, would climb 19% to £40m sterling.

The company said Ireland on Sunday, relaunched in January, had experienced higher circulation and revenue, and its operating losses in the half would reflect the cost of the relaunch.

SRH, in which Scottish media rival SMG has built a 29.5% stake, also said it was continuing a strategic review and planned to make an announcement about it before the interim results in May.
