British mobile-phone merchant Carphone Warehouse Group and The Financial Times said today they would launch an 'exclusive virtual mobile network offering premium business and financial content.
The two firms said that the joint venture, FT Mobile, would also offer high-quality phones and after-sales service. They said the venture would use the BT Cellnet network, which covers 99% of the UK population.
The initial range of handsets would be supplied by Siemens, Nokia and Sony. The Financial Times is a subsidiary of Pearson, which announced a 17% fall in pre-tax profits today.
