Chip maker Parthus today announced it has licensed its Bluestream Platform to US-based wireless communications company PrarieComm.
The Parthus Bluestream platform allows semiconductor companies to integrate Bluetooth wireless capability into their products.
Under the licence agreement PrairieComm will integrate the bluestream platform in its chips for 2nd and the 3rd generation wireless devices.
Barry Nolan, vice president of marketing at Parthus, said that Parthus was the first company to break the five dollar cost barrier for the incorporation of Bluetooth technology into devices. He said Parthus was now the most widely licensed Bluetooth provider with 4 of the top 10 wireless semi-conductor companies deploying Parthus technology.
