As the Government prepares to unveil the details of Budget 2024, RTÉ will provide extensive coverage across digital, radio and television, with reporting and analysis in both English and as Gaeilge.

RTÉ News online and the RTÉ News social channels will carry extensive coverage from early morning in the build up to the Budget speeches from the Minister for Finance and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, which will be broadcast live from Dáil Éireann on RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ One television, the RTÉ News Channel and on Raidió na Gaeltachta.

Here's how you can stay in touch with all of the day's developments across the RTÉ network of services.


Television coverage

The Budget 2024 speeches will be delivered in Dáil Éireann with live coverage beginning at 12.40pm on RTÉ One television and the RTÉ News channel.

David McCullagh and Sharon Ní Bheoláin will be joined in studio by a panel of guests to analyse the measures announced and there will be live reaction from Dublin city centre and around the country.

On an extended Six-One News, David McCullagh and Sharon Tobin, will provide comprehensive reporting of Budget 2024, while the Nine O'Clock News with Sharon Ní Bheoláin will update viewers on the reaction to the measures announced earlier in the day.

The Prime Time Budget Special with Miriam O’Callaghan and Sarah McInerney will provide analysis and reaction to the Budget measures, with questions being put to Minister for Finance Michael McGrath and reaction from Sinn Féin's spokesperson on finance Pearse Doherty.

RTÉ News app and RTÉ.ie/news

From early on Tuesday the RTÉ News app and RTÉ.ie/news will carry comprehensive coverage of Budget 2024.

A live blog covering all of the up-to-date developments will run throughout the day with RTÉ journalists reporting on what has been announced, as well bringing you the reaction from interest groups and organisations from across society.

For the key measures of the Government's financial plans, there is the RTÉ 'At a glance' feature and a shareable explainer video to give you the story of the budget in just 90 seconds.

Followers of RTÉ News on social media can also submit budget questions to be answered in a live Q&A blog by financial experts between 4pm and 7pm.

Live streams of RTÉ's television and radio coverage will be available to users via the RTÉ News app, RTÉ Player and RTÉ Radio Player.

RTÉ Radio 1

An extended edition of News at One with Bryan Dobson will kick off the RTÉ Radio 1 coverage of the Budget with the programme running from 12.45pm until 3.30pm.

A Drivetime Budget Special presented by Cormac O'hEadhra will analyse the key points and reaction to the budget from 4.30pm and Late Debate with Colm O'Mongáin will be live with political debate from Buswells Hotel at 10pm.

RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta's programme Lá na Cáinaisnéise, presented by Máirín Ní Ghadhra, will cover the Budget live from Leinster House from 1.30pm featuring analysis from tax consultant Ciarán Ó Feinneadha, journalist Áine Ní Chiaráin, Ciarán Mac an Bhaird, Head of Fiontar and Scoil na Gaeilge in DCU, Seán Ó Riain, Professor of Sociology at Maynooth University, and RTÉ RnaG Political Editor Cuan Ó Seireadáin.

Coverage and further analysis continues on Tús Áite from 5pm, presented by Fachtna Ó Drisceoil live from Leinster House.


Buiséad 2024 - Nuacht RTÉ/TG4

There will be a special hour-long programme on TG4, with Buiséad 2024 going on air at 2pm. Beirní Ní Chuinn will be joined by a studio panel and remote guests to sift through what has been announced.

Nuacht RTÉ le TG4 at 5.40pm on RTÉ One will report on the budget measures and Eimear Ní Chonaola will bring reaction from around the country to Nuacht TG4's audience at 7pm.

7Lá presented by Máirín Ní Ghadra at 8pm on TG4 will take an extended look at the implications of Budget 2024.


Both ministers will be on air from 10am on Wednesday for the budget phone-in on Radio 1

Wednesday morning

The main talking points of Budget 2024 will be examined Morning Ireland on RTÉ Radio 1 and the RTÉ News channel from 7am.

From 10am, Minister for Finance Michael McGrath and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe joining Claire Byrne on RTÉ Radio 1 for the annual budget phone-in special, where listeners are invited to put their questions about Budget 2024 directly to the Ministers.
