There have been no major changes to personal taxation on income in the budget.
The Minister for Finance confirmed that income tax credits and bands would not be altered at this time.
Among the specific changes Paschal Donohoe announced in the Budget was a change to the USC ceiling to ensure that a full-time worker on the minimum wage would remain outside the top rates of USC.
He said he was raising the ceiling of the second USC rate band from €20,484 to €20,687.
The Minister said the move would give a 'modest benefit' to workers whose income is above that amount.
He also said the weekly threshold for the higher rate of employers' PRSI would increase from €394 to €398 to ensure that there was no incentive to reduce working hours for a full-time minimum wage worker.
He also announced an increase in the earned income tax credit by €150 to €1,650 to bring it into line with that of the PAYE credit.
The Dependent Relative Tax Credit would also increase from €70 to €245 to support families with caring responsibilities.
