Four men have been remanded in continuing custody over an alleged plot to attack a mosque in Co Galway.

The men have been charged with an attempt to engage in terrorist-linked activity.

They are: Darren Gorman, 34, of O'Moore Place, Portlaoise, Co Laois; Charles Flynn, 35, of Castlerock Avenue, Castleconnell, Co Limerick; Garrett Pollock, 35, of Kilhorne Green, Annalong, Co Down; and Karolis Peckauskas, 38, of Newfoundwell Road, Drogheda, Co Louth.

Mr Peckauskas and Mr Pollock are also charged with offences relating to the possession of weapons and an explosive substance.

They appeared before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today with a view to setting a trial date.

They were all remanded in continuing custody until 8 June as the court heard there could be "potential progress" in relation to two of the men.
