April 2026 was warmer and wetter than average, according to Met Éireann's latest Climate Statement.
The mean temperature for April was 9.69C, making it the 12th warmest April since 1900.
The month's highest temperature was reported at Claremorris, Co Mayo, on 24 April, with a temperature of 21.3C.
All 25 Met Éireann weather stations recorded temperatures above their 1991-2020 Long-Term Average (LTA).
However, there were also plenty of spells of rain over the course of the month, making it wetter than normal, with 92.7mm of rain recorded.
It was also the 21st wettest April since 1941.
The highest daily rainfall total was 38.6mm at Belmullet, in Co Mayo, on 4 April.
The number of rain days (a day in which more than 0.2mm of rain is measured) ranged from 13 days at a few stations to 21 days at Belmullet.
The number of wet days (when more than 1.0mm of rain is measured) ranged from eight days at a few stations to 19 days at Belmullet.
The number of very wet days (when more than 10.0mm of rain is measured) ranged from zero days at a few stations to six days at Valentia Observatory in Co Kerry.
Mace Head in Co Galway had its wettest April on record, as 109.8mm of rain fell, while two stations in the east - Phoenix Park and Casement Aerodrome, Co Dublin - had dry spells, lasting 15 days between 16 April and 30 April.
The dry spells, where less than 0.1mm of rain falls, are ongoing.
