Transport disruption continues after protests

Dublin's O'Connell Street is expected to reopen Monday morning, days after a bloackade shut the capital's main thoroughfare.

Early-morning commuters are advised to check Luas and Dublin Bus websites and social media accounts for the latest travel updates on Monday morning.

The nearly week-long protest brought considerable disruption to public transport, as routes were not accessing O'Connell Street.

On Sunday night, O'Connell Street remain closed to vehicles with public transport still restricted.

Dublin Bus routes have not been using O'Connell Street, the Luas Green Line is suspended along O'Connell Street with the Red Line closed between Smithfield and The Point, and Busáras is not operating, which is having an effect on Bus Éireann services in and out of Dublin City.

Last night, a major overnight garda operation removed the blockade from the capital's main thoroughfare.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland was also reporting disruption to the road network throughout Sunday.

Tonight, it was reporting diruption on sections of the M1 at Carlingford; M8 between Junction 4 Urlingford and Junction 10 Cahir; M8 between Junction 9 Cashel and Junction 7 Cashel; and M11/N11 between Junction 22 Gorey and Junction 23 Courttown.

People planning to travel on the major roads should check Transport Infrastructure Ireland's website and social media channels to plan their journey.

Commuters can also find updates on the Transport for Ireland social media account.
