A man in his 50s has been arrested over the attempted murder of Charles Dooher in Lifford, Co Donegal, in January.
Mr Dooher, who is in his 20s, was critically injured following an assault at his home shortly after 10am on Monday 20 January.
He and his father were at home when a gang of masked men with iron bars entered their home in broad daylight and attacked them.
Mr Dooher was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The man who was arrested has been released without charge and a file sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
