Kerry actress Jessie Buckley made history on Sunday by becoming the first Irish woman to win Best Actress at the Academy Awards in Hollywood.
RTÉ's Evelyn O’Rourke was at the ceremony in Los Angeles and joins Behind the Story for some takeaways from the 91st Oscars.
"It was an extraordinary night... to be in the room in LA when she won the Oscar, I can’t put into words – it was just really, really special".
Dubliner Richard Baneham took home his third Oscar for visual effects work on James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash.
Baneham first won in 2010 and won again in 2022.
Evelyn said that both Baneham and Buckley made their own way in the industry.
"What’s remarkable about him, and similar to the others, there was no industry knowledge there at all – he just kind of had to find it for himself," she said.
Evelyn also revealed how she got to ask Jessie Buckley a question straight after her win, and who she found having a burger after the ceremony.
St Patrick’s Day in Washington
Washington correspondent Jackie Fox also joined Fran to discuss the visit of Taoiseach Micheál Martin to the White House for St Patrick’s Day where he will meet US President Donald Trump.
Jackie said anything is likely to be on the agenda when the two leaders meet.
"All of this really depends on Donald Trump and how he’s feeling," she said.
"This is something that could last five minutes, it could last 20 minutes or an hour.
"But I think definitely what’s going to overshadow everything is Iran."
Jackie explains why Shannon Airport could also be a talking point for the bilaterial meeting.
