Over 1,450 drivers have been detected speeding since Thursday, including a motorist driving at 138km/h in a 100km/h zone.
The driver was travelling on the N18 in Ballinacurra yesterday.
Gardaí commenced their St Patrick's Bank Holiday weekend Road Policing Operation on Thursday.
It will last until Wednesday morning.
They have been carrying out Mandatory Intoxicant Testing (MIT) and regular, high-visibility policing checkpoints.
To date, 56 people have been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Meanwhile, 120 drivers were detected holding a mobile phone or not wearing a seatbelt.
In Tower, Co Cork yesterday, a driver was caught travelling 85 km/h in a 50km/h zone in Tower, Co Cork.
Meanwhile, another motorist was driving 91km/h in a 60km/hr in Greystones in Co Wicklow.
A driver in Dundalk, Co Louth was also detected travelling 124 km/h in a 80km/h zone.
An Garda Síochána has appealed to all road users to never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
It urged the public to plan ahead and to organise safe ways home if socialising over the weekend.
"All drivers who are taking to the roads this weekend are reminded to slow down, take extra care and to give your driving your full attention," gardaí added.
