Pedestrian killed in Co Kildare collision

A male pedestrian, aged in his 50s, has died after he was struck by a car in Co Kildare early this morning.

The incident happened at around 5.25am in the Mylerstown area, Robertstown.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been transferred to hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The scene was preserved for technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but the road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward.

Anyone who was travelling in the area between 5.00am and 5.45am and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) is asked to make that footage available to investigating gardaí.
