Three men appear in court charged over €10m drugs seizure in Co Louth

Three men have appeared in court charged in connection with a €10 million drugs seizure in Co Louth.

A special sitting of Dundalk District Court this evening heard evidence of arrest, charge and caution in respect of 37-year-old Graham Somers with an address at Moscow Drive in Liverpool, United Kingdom, 38-year-old Brian Coleman of Glasanaon Road in Finglas, Dublin 11; and 57-year-old Alan O'Neill with an address at Hill of Rath in Drogheda, Co Louth.

All three men are charged with the unlawful possession of a controlled drug, namely cannabis, on 30 January at Unit 2 Newtownstalaban in Co Louth, contrary to section three of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

They each face a further charge of possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of sale or supply, contrary to section 15 of the Act.

Detectives from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution before Judge Stephanie Coggins this evening.

The court heard that each of the men made no reply when the charges were put to them by arresting gardaí.

Applications for free legal aid were granted for each of the three men.

There were no applications for bail, and all three men were remanded in custody to appear before Dundalk District Court again on Wednesday, 4 February via videolink.
