Behind the Story: Trump's demands and billionaires row

US President Donald Trump has said wants "immediate negotiations" to acquire Greenland.

During a wide-ranging speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the US leader said he "would not use force" to get the Danish territory.

"We want a piece of ice for world protection", he told world leaders.

RTÉ's incoming Washington correspondent Jackie Fox told Behind the Story all eyes are watching how Europe reacts now.

"It’s going to be interesting [to see] the European response to this," she said.

Billionaires row

Meanwhile as a war of words continues between X owner Elon Musk and Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary, business correspondent Fergal O’Brien explains why it shows no sign of abating.

Despite Mr Musk musing if he should consider buying Ryanair, Fergal outlines how that will not be possible under European Union airline ownership rules.

Eating disorder services

Paula Crotty of CARED Ireland joins Fran and Fiona following her appearance before the Oireachtas Health Committee.

Ms Crotty was at the committee to discuss the lack of services for people with eating disorders in some areas of the country.

She said where eating disorder services are available, they operate on a catchment area basis.

Ms Crotty’s daughter Jennifer died in March 2023 from an eating disorder and while Jennifer got treatment, it sadly was not enough to save her.

"It’s not about food, it’s not about weight – it’s about some trauma in your life and trying to control your life, and this is the only way they can do it," she said.

"Some of them are strong enough and can fight it, and some of them aren’t".

Ms Crotty is hoping the health authorities will be able to fully support those with disordered eating habits both at early intervention stage and in-hospital treatment.
