Supermarket chain Aldi Ireland has announced a 2% increase for all paid hourly rates, with effect from 1 February.

The company said the pay increase means the minimum hourly base pay rate at its stores and warehouses will be €15.40 per hour, with additional annual increments rising to €17.75 after one, two and three years of service.

Aldi said the 2% increase in base pay ensures it continues to meet the new Living Wage Recommendation of €15.40 per hour.

Aldi has 166 stores across Ireland, and employs more than 4,800 staff.

The company said it is investing around €5.5 million in this pay review, including auto-enrolment contributions.

"We are proud to confirm a 2% pay increase for our valued hourly colleagues, effective from 1 February," said Niall O'Connor, Aldi Ireland’s Country Managing Director.

"This marks the eighth consecutive year we have met or exceeded the recommended Living Wage," Mr O'Connor said.
