The twelfth and final day of Christmas, 6 January, is known as Nollaig na mBan or Little Christmas - a day for women to be celebrated.
The tradition of Nollaig na mBan is rooted in the idea that women deserved a break after all their hard work in the home over the Christmas period.
Traditional roles within the household were often reversed, with men looking after the cooking and cleaning for the day while women went out and socialised with friends, often enjoying the last of the Christmas cake.
Nowadays, it is still seen as a time for women to get together and for men to do something nice for the women in their lives.
In Dublin city centre, we spoke to people about their plans for the day.
"I'm going out for dinner with friends to celebrate friendship and camaraderie and getting through another year," one woman said.
