The High Court has heard that a very vulnerable child is doing well in a placement ordered by the court last month.
President of the court Mr Justice David Barniville has made orders relating to the care and protection of the child on a number of occasions since October, under the court's minor wardship jurisdiction.
He directed that the hearings be in private but has allowed limited details to be reported following an application by the media on behalf of RTÉ, the Irish Times, and Mediahuis, the publishers of the Irish Independent.
The judge refused a further application by the media this afternoon to have the stringent restrictions eased or lifted.
However, he told barrister John Maher for the media organisations that the matter would be kept under review.
Mr Justice Barniville heard evidence from the Child and Family Agency, Tusla, that the child was doing well in the current placement.
The child’s mother and father as well as the child’s Guardian Ad Litem were also represented in court and supported the application for the court’s current orders to be continued.
The matter will be back in court next month.
