Ireland striker Troy Parrott's former club Belvedere FC have praised his 'special’ performance against Portugal in the Aviva Stadium.
Mr Parrott scored two goals in the match, securing Ireland’s 2-0 victory.
His former coach Tony Lynch, who has worked at Belvedere FC for 35 years, said he was "always a very good player and technically, he was brilliant".
John Hayden, the club’s chairperson, said Mr Parrott’s performance is not just exciting for the country, but it will show the younger members of the north inner city club that they can also achieve great things.
Belvedere FC co-founder Vincent Butler said the Ireland team have now shown that "they can do it" as the nation looks towards their next match against Hungary on Sunday.
