A 21-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a man in Co Down.

Jordan Webb, 28, was pronounced dead at the scene when police and paramedics responded to a report of an incident at a house on New Harbour Road in Portavogie at 7.45am on Monday morning.

Kai Johnston, from Springfield Gardens in the village, appeared at Newtownards Magistrates' Court this morning charged with his murder.

He is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, a knife, with intent to commit murder, assault occasioning actual bodily harm of another person near the scene of the murder, and possession of a Class C drug.

The defendant spoke only to confirm his identity and that he understood the charges against him.

A PSNI detective Sergeant told the court he could connect the defendant to those charges.

Mr Johnston was remanded in custody to appear in court again next month.
