Coroner releases CCTV from night Noah Donohoe disappeared

A coroner investigating the death of a 14-year-old Belfast schoolboy has released video footage of him from the night before he disappeared.

Noah Donohoe was last seen on 21 June 2020.

He travelled through the city on his bicycle having said he was going to meet friends.

He was spotted in the north of the city that evening around teatime.

CCTV showed at one point he had fallen from his bicycle and that he had discarded his clothing and other possessions before making his way to the rear of houses.

His disappearance sparked a huge public search.

His body was found 600m into an unlocked storm culvert on 27 June.

The cause of death was found to be drowning.

The night before he disappeared, CCTV footage from the apartment block where he lived showed him leaving his home in the early hours.

It has now been released by the presiding coroner Mr Justice Rooney as part of an appeal for information.

The footage, taken from inside and outside the apartment in Fitzroy Avenue, shows him leaving at 3.34am.

He was casually dressed, wearing flip flops and carrying a set of headphones.

When he returned half an hour later, he was barefoot and no longer had the headphones in his possession.

The coroner has asked anyone who knows why the schoolboy left home that night, where he went, whether he met anyone and where his flip flops and headphones might be, to come forward.

He has also asked whether anyone knows of any other occasion when the 14 year old left his home in the early hours.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coroners Service for Northern Ireland at its office in Belfast.

The inquest into Noah Donohoe's death is due to take place next year.
