Independent presidential candidate Catherine Connolly says her campaign is bringing together people throughout the country and has spoken of a "momentum" behind her candidacy.

Fine Gael presidential candidate Heather Humphreys said she is not worried about opinion polls that suggest Ms Connolly has a commanding lead, saying that week is a long time in politics.

She insists she is connecting with the public as she campaigns across the country.

On Thursday, Ms Humphreys spoke to Rachael English on RTÉ Radio 1's News at One, where she said the only real opinion poll would take place on 24 October.
