A 24-year-old woman has appeared before a special District Court sitting in Clonmel, Co Tipperary, charged in connection with the death of a man at an apartment in Carrick-on-Suir on Saturday.
Karolina Kovacova, with an address at O'Callaghan's Lane, Carrick-on-Suir, was charged with the murder of Pavel Javorski.
Gardaí and emergency services were called to an apartment at O'Callaghan's Lane on Saturday night, where Mr Javorski was found unresponsive. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Mr Javorski was originally from the Czech Republic and had been living in Ireland for 20 years. He was aged in his 40s.
A post-mortem examination on his body is understood to have confirmed he died violently.
This afternoon, Ms Kovacova was charged with Mr Javorski's murder.
She is also from the Czech Republic. It is understood she has been in Ireland for a number of months.
Detective Garda Ruairí Ryan said she made no reply when he put the murder charge to her earlier this afternoon.
Defence solicitor Aidan Leahy said prison will be a difficult environment for Ms Kovacova because she has very little English, and he asked that she is given whatever assistance possible.
Judge John O'Leary remanded Ms Kovacova in custody and made a recommendation to the prison governor to take account of her vulnerability because she has little English.
Ms Kovacova will be back before the court again tomorrow.
