Watch: 'Guess what?' - Macron calls Trump as motorcade blocks his route

French President Emmanuel Macron had to call his US counterpart Donald Trump from the streets of New York yesterday after he and his entourage were stopped from crossing a route, which was being kept clear for Mr Trump's motorcade.

Footage shot by French broadcaster BFMTV showed Mr Macron speaking to a police officer who apologetically said he could not allow the French presidential team to cross because of a coming motorcade.

"If you don't see it, let me cross. I negotiate with you", Mr Macron could be heard saying to the officer.

Mr Macron then called Mr Trump in what his office described as a warm and friendly conversation.

"Guess what?," Mr Macron says to Mr Trump, "I am waiting on the street because everything is frozen for you".

He then said he wanted to arrange a meeting between himself, Mr Trump and Qatar on the situation in Gaza.

Both men are in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly.
