Watch: Cork pair set to complete ultramarathon challenge

Two Cork men are aiming to complete an epic endurance challenge in aid of the Irish Cancer Society this weekend.

Liam Dinneen and Alan Minihane set themselves the target of running seven ultramarathons, in seven cities across seven consecutive days.

They ran their first ultramarathon distance of 50 km (31 miles) in New York on Monday.

Since then, they have ran an ultramarathon a day in Boston, London, Paris and Barcelona.

Each day has typically involved seven to eight hours of running through a city centre, followed by recovery, refuelling, and travel to the next destination.

They are running in Dublin's Phoenix Park today, before finishing the challenge in Cork at the Marina Market tomorrow.

"We can't wait for the people of Ireland, the people of Dublin, and most importantly the people of our hometown of Cork to come out and support us," Mr Dineen told RTÉ News as the pair ran through London's Hyde Park on Wednesday.

Each leg of their journey has been dedicated to a different cancer type and the people impacted by it.

Both men have lost close relatives to cancer.

"We're simply two ordinary guys pushing our limits to raise awareness and funds for an extraordinary cause," Mr Dinneen said.
