Conor McGregor has posted a video on social media outside Government Buildings calling for people to contact their councillors to ask them to support his presidential bid.
To get onto the ballot, Mr McGregor must be either nominated by four local authorities or secure the backing of 20 members of the Oireachtas.
Mr McGregor posted a two-and-a-half-minute video to his social media accounts where he spoke directly to camera while standing outside Government Buildings.
During the video, he quoted the Irish Proclamation of Independence and concluded by blessing himself.
In his social media posts accompanying the video, Mr McGregor urged the public to contact county councillors, to ask them to nominate him to be a candidate in the upcoming Presidential Election.
The window for nominations opens tomorrow.
All nominations must be received by midday on 24 September.
In November last year, a jury in a civil trial found Conor McGregor raped Nikita Hand in a hotel room in Dublin in December 2018 and awarded her almost €250,000 in damages.
Mr McGregor lost a subsequent appeal against the ruling in July this year.
