An investigation is under way into a threat made to Tánaiste Simon Harris and his family.
The threat, which gardaí are treating as serious, was posted on social media yesterday morning.
The Tánaiste alerted gardaí, who have confirmed a criminal investigation is under way.
The investigation into the threat is being conducted by gardaí from Wicklow and specialist units, including the National Cyber Crime Bureau and the Special Detective Unit.
It is not the first time Mr Harris has been threatened on social media, but gardaí say they are concerned about the nature of this threat, which includes members of his family.
Protesters have also previously turned up outside his home in Co Wicklow where his wife and children also live.
The Tánaiste previously said he will not be deterred from doing his job.
Garda Headquarters confirmed that the matter is under investigation but would make no further comment.
