Man dies after incident involving crane and two vans in Co Offaly

A man in his 40s has died following an incident involving a crane and two vans in Edenderry, Co Offaly.

It occurred on the R401 at Drumcooly at around 6.15am.

The driver of one of the vans was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other van, a man in his 30s, was brought to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, with non-life threatening injuries.

The road has been closed for a technical examination and local diversions are in place.

The Health and Safety Authority has also been notified and will conduct its own investigation.

Gardaí have appealed to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 6am and 6.30am to make this footage available to them.
