Brogan Capital Ventures, which owns and operates the Dundrum House, Golf and Leisure Resort in Co Tipperary, has told staff the company will cease trading with immediate effect.

The decision will impact 48 employees at the resort.

The restaurant, bar, golf course, driving range, golf shop and leisure centre at the venue at Dundrum will now close.

The decision follows an assessment by the new board of the company that the business is loss-making and is currently unable to pay its debts as they fall due.

An IPAS centre, which is operated independently by a third party on the Dundrum House campus, is unaffected by the decision.

Brogan Capital Ventures will commence a 30-day collective redundancy consultation process with staff later this week.

During the consultation period, the company said it will engage with employees and their selected representatives.

"The company very much regrets the adverse impact of this decision on its valued employees, golf and leisure centre members, customers, suppliers, the local community and other stakeholders," Brogan Capital Ventures said in a statement.

"However, it is unavoidable given the state of the company's financial affairs," it added.

Brogan Capital Ventures said the company’s board "will work closely with its advisors to ensure that all obligations to employees and other stakeholders are managed appropriately and in compliance with all relevant laws and regulations".
