Man dead, five injured as truck and cars crash on N7

A man has died and five others have been injured after a crash on the N7 at Rathcoole, Co Dublin yesterday evening.

The crash, involving a truck and two cars, happened in the westbound lane at around 6.40pm.

The driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to the mortuary at Whitehall where a post-mortem examination will take place.

Five other people were taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The road had been closed for a forensic investigation, but it has since reopened.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them.

In particular, they have appealed for any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the N7 near Rathcoole between 6.30pm and 7pm yesterday to make this footage available to gardaí.
