A woman in her 50s has died following a collision between a truck and a car in Kilkenny this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene on the main N25 near Gaulstown, Glenmore.

The woman, who was the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed from the scene to a mortuary for a post-mortem examination to take place.

The N25 remains closed for a technical examination.

Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the N25 New Ross to Waterford road near Gaulstown at around 10.30am are asked to make this available to investigating Gardaí.

It brings the total number of road deaths so far this year to 55, after a young woman was killed after her car left the road and went into the River Aherlow in Tipperary this morning.
