A man is being questioned in connection with the death of another man in Killybegs, Co Donegal.
The body of Eddie Friel was found in his home in the Harbour View Drive estate yesterday afternoon.
It is understood the 60-year-old had sustained serious injuries.
Detectives arrested a man in his 50s in the early hours of this morning.
He is being held at a garda station in the locality and can be questioned for a total of 24 hours before being charged or released.
Mr Friel's body has been removed from the house and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
As they await the outcome of that process, gardaí are continuing to try and piece together the events that led to the injuries sustained by the victim.
A forensic examination of the bungalow he lived in concluded this morning and gardaí have spent much of the day carrying out follow-up searches around the property, while also conducting door-to-door inquiries at neighbouring premises.
In addition, CCTV footage gathered around the time of the incident is being reviewed.

The area around the house remains sealed off this evening.
News of Mr Friel's death has caused widespread shock around the town.
One of his neighbours described him as an unassuming man, who was well-liked by those who knew him.
Dónal Rowan said he would often encounter Mr Friel on his way to or from local shops. He said he was "a very civil man, who went about his business in a quiet way".
Mr Rowan said he found the events of the last 24 hours "unbelievable", adding that they had cast a cloud over the whole town and the wider west Donegal area.
An incident room has been established at Ballyshannon Garda Station and investigating detectives have appealed to anyone with information that might assist the inquiry to contact them.
