Small businesses have said outdoor drinking on a street in Dublin city centre is getting out of hand.
Some independent store owners have said the popularity of Drury Street as a food and drink destination is impacting their sales and damaging the area's character.
They also point out that the trend for people to drink outdoors, often highlighted on social media, contravenes licensing laws and has led to anti-social behaviour.
"Everybody congregates right outside the shop, leaning up against the windows and leaving their glasses on the ground outside the shop and basically, just blocking the whole view of the shopfront," Laura Caffrey of the Irish Design Shop explained.
"As the street is semi-pedestrianised, there's still a kerb so people like to sit on the kerb, they sit on the planters," she added.
Dublin City Council has said it is aware of more people visiting Drury Street to meet, dwell and socialise, particularly during the recent spell of good spell weather.
It says it is working with other agencies and businesses on the street "to keep a positive atmosphere with some structure, balance, and a shared sense of responsibility for all."
