ESW, an international e-commerce company headquartered in Dublin, has said that 45 Irish-based employees are at risk of redundancy.

The firm has informed the Department of Enterprise, Tourism & Employment that it has entered a consultation period with the impacted employees.

The company said the proposed job cuts account for less than 5% of its global workforce.

"Impacted employees are put at risk of redundancy on an involuntary basis; some will have the opportunity to seek other roles within the organisation through the consultation process," ESW said in a statement.

"Currently, ESW has a number of open vacancies that need to be filled, and the objective is to recruit from within where possible."

"The company is providing transition support to those employees that are affected," it added.

ESW said the redundancies are linked to the restructuring of teams to ensure automation and efficiency are at the forefront of their business model.

"As AI-driven technologies and new ecommerce models enable greater efficiency, we are prioritising investments that position ESW for long-term success," said Eric Eichmann, CEO of ESW.

"By focusing on innovation, expanding our global market reach, and optimising operations, we are strengthening our ability to help brands thrive in an increasingly complex global trading environment," Mr Eichmann said.
