Local people have expressed shock and sadness after a six-year-old girl died after she was hit by a truck while cycling on the outskirts of Galway city.
The incident occurred at the junction of Headford Road and the Sandyvale Lawn housing estate at around 12pm yesterday.
The little girl was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the oil delivery truck, a man in his 30s, was uninjured.
It is understood that the girl lived with her family in another estate nearby.
All day, local residents came to add more flowers, teddies and candles around the Sandyvale Estate name stone, close to where the crash happened.

"I just dropped something off for myself, I'm just glad all the community has come together now," said Cian O'Gorman.
"We're all mourning, especially for that family, it's really awful."
"We're all in shock, it's like a dark blanket all over us today, a beautiful child, what can you say," another local resident Eileen Curran said.
"I have a daughter, the same, her age, she's six, and I couldn't sleep last night," said Niluka Vidyarathne, who lives in a housing estate on the other side of the Headford Road.
"Just do simple things to show respect and solidarity," Sinéad O'Donnell who lives in Sandyvale Lawn said after she laid her flowers.
"At times like this you just have to show humanity, yeah, just show humanity and care for people. So that's why I came out," Ms O'Donnell.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to contact them, particularly any road users travelling in the area between 11.45am and 12.15pm yesterday, who may have camera footage, including dash-cam to make it available to them.

The young girl was the second person to be killed on the roads in Galway this weekend.
A motorcyclist in his 20s, who died in a collision with a car in Oranmore shortly after 4pm on Friday afternoon, has been named as Patrick De la Ruelle from Kinvara.
Road Safety Group PARC described it as "a very tragic weekend for Galway."
It said this weekend's fatalities bring to six the number of road deaths in Co Galway so far this year, which is one more than the total number of fatalities in the county for all of 2024.
